“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.” Luke  6:38

Do you feel overwhelmed by grief and sorrow? Have you lost a loved one? Understanding the nature of grief can help us better cope with loss. Grief is a natural healthy process that enables us to recover from terrible emotional wounds. We should not feel guilty for grieving, because it is a necessary part of God’s pathway to healing. The journey though grief has 4 phases:

  1. Shock
  2. Reality
  3. Reaction
  4. Recovery

These phases are different in duration for each person, sometimes years. Holidays, anniversaries, and birthdays can even trigger intense grief, especially the first year. Jesus is our best role model for combining faith and grief, as revealed in John 11:1-45.  When Jesus saw Mary and Martha in anguish over the death of their brother Lazarus, he wept and groaned. Although Jesus knew he was about to raise Lazarus from the dead, he still allowed himself to feel the depths of human sorrow. We know that we can take comfort in knowing that Jesus has experienced all of our pain including loss, rejection, betrayal, and dying as our Savior and Redeemer.

Living Free created this program because some of us have lost loved ones due to addiction, and we believe the only silver lining in sorrow’s dark cloud is that God can use our experience to reach out to others with compassion and comfort.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 says, “Blessed be the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations, that we may be able to comfort others who are in any trouble, with the comfort which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

Healing Hearts Journey is a safe haven for you to express your feelings, to hear Biblical truth that lets you know that God is and always has been with you through the tears and trials and through the help of the Holy Spirit (the Great Comforter), he will help you get beyond those tears and on your journey to healing through Christ.

As our good shepherd he leads us safely through “the valley of the shadow of death” -Psalms 23:4. Remember, as a shadow indicated that there is a light on the other side, Jesus the light. Let us as his ministers of faith, help guide you through the healing path to find joy again in your life through Jesus.
